ArmInfo. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on October 16 announced his resignation.
Making a statement on the Public TV channel, the head of the Armenian government noted that after the non-violent "velvet revolution" the country enters a new phase, when all power in the country should be transferred to the people. Pashinyan stressed that the "roadmap" of the next steps is as follows: immediately after his resignation of the prime minister, the president immediately accepts the resignation of the entire government. If, within 14 days, the country's parliament does not elect the head of government, the country's National Assembly is dissolved, and the president sets the date for a new parliamentary election. Throughout this period, members of the government will continue to fulfill their duties. "I will also continue to fulfill the constitutional powers of the Prime Minister," said Nikol Pashinyan, adding that he would continue to be the guarantor of the victorious nation. "If at the early parliamentary elections in December of this year, you give me a vote of confidence, our political strength, I will again be elected head of the government," said Nikol Pashinyan.
According to him, many today express concern about the possibility of nominating another candidate, and is society ready for such a scenario? "Developments have shown that we are more than ready for any possible scenario, because any political force cannot but be considered as the will of the people. But today I don't even want to comment on this development, because no matter what sharp disputes we have with a number of parliamentary forces, I cannot imagine that these forces come out against the people and national security. Parliamentary forces are well aware of the impossibility of moving beyond the "red line", the Prime Minister noted, recalling that almost all Armenian forces announced their refusal to nominate their candidates.
Nikol Pashinyan, referring to the faction of the Republican Party, which previously had an overwhelming majority in the country's parliament, said that the new authorities do not intend to look for enemies. "Throughout my life I have spoken and today I will repeat, I didn't have enemies in Armenia, and there will be no enemies. Wishing success to all political forces in the upcoming early elections, I assure that our government guarantees the free will of the people," said Nikol Pashinyan.
According to him, despite the fact that the resignation is of a formal nature, those less, the moment is exciting. After the revolution, the country is entering a new phase. After 5 months after taking office, Nikol Pashinyan expressed gratitude to the people for their assistance. He also apologized to the citizens of the country, whose hopes he had not met. "All your pain is in my heart, all your expectations are in my mind. Your support allows me to confidently say that everything will be fine, will be very good, prepare for new victories. I love everyone and kiss you all. Glory to freedom, glory to Armenia, glory to ours children who will live in a free and fair country ", the RA Prime Minister stated.
