ArmInfo.The Armenian parliamentary delegation, headed by the Chairman of the National Assembly, Ara Babloyan, in Geneva participates in the work of the 139th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union. This was reported by the press service of the Armenian parliament.
The participants of the meeting within the framework of the Assembly will hold a special meeting dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The Assembly will also discuss the role of parliaments in ensuring arms control, the problems of migration and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. Much attention will be paid to protecting the rights of parliamentarians. The main theme of the five-day forum will be the role of parliaments in strengthening peace in the face of changes caused by the development of science and the introduction of technological innovations. Inter-parliamentary union? The oldest (founded in 1889) and one of the most authoritative and influential international organizations. The IPU unites parliaments of 178 countries, as well as 12 inter- parliamentary assemblies as associate members.
