ArmInfo. The agenda of the extraordinary meeting of the Armenian government to be held on October 16 includes the issue of appointing three new governors of Aragatsotn, Syunik and Armavir regions.
According to the draft decision published on the government website, Aragatsotn region will be headed by David Gevorgyan, Syunik - Hunan Poghosyan, and Hambardzum Matevosyan will become the head of Armavir region.
To recall, the government of Armenia at a meeting on October 10 decided to appoint three governors. Gnel Sanosyan (previously served as deputy minister of nature protection) became the new governor of Gegharkunik region. Trdat Sargsyan will head Vayots Dzor region, Andrey Ghukasyan (former deputy governor) will head Lori region.
To note, Hunan Poghosyan was the first deputy head of the Armenian police, who resigned on May 11. "I made a decision on resignation. I ask you not to look for subtext in my words and decisions," he wrote, stressing that he always acted according to his conscience. "I have always served, and I will serve the Republic of Armenia, wherever this service is required, and if I am sure that I can give maximum to my state and people," the statement of Hunan Poghosyan read.
On October 2, after the parliament passed the bill, which, according to its opponents, is aimed at preventing the dissolution of the National Assembly, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated at the rally on Baghramyan Avenue about the dismissal of ministers and governors from the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) and ARF Dashnaktsutyun . On October 4, the Cabinet dismissed six governors from the Tsarukyan bloc and the ARF Dashnaktsutyun. The governors of Aragatsotn region - Ashot Simonyan, Lori region - Hrant Margaryan, Vayots Dzor region - Aragats Saghatelyan, Armavir region - Gagik Mirijanyan, Gegharkunik region - Ishkhan Saghatelyan and Syunik region - Karen Ambartsumyan were dismissed.
