ArmInfo. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan today received Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who arrived in Armenia on an official visit and as part of the Francophony Week. Welcoming his Canadian counterpart, Pashinyan noted that this is the first official visit of the head of the Canadian government to Armenia, expressing the hope that the existing warm relations between the countries will help advance Armenian-Canadian relations to a new level.
Thanking the Armenian Prime Minister, the head of Canada recalled that many years ago he had the honor to visit Armenia with his father and felt the friendship between Armenians and Canadians. <It's an honor to be here. Thank you!>, Said Trudeau.
The interlocutors discussed a number of issues of bilateral interest, including political changes in Armenia. Justin Trudo stressed that he had visited Armenia to demonstrate his country's readiness to promote its development. "Democratic processes in Armenia do honor not only to Armenians, but to the whole world," said Trudeau. He noted that Canada is ready to help Armenia in economic development, in attracting investments, improving infrastructure and in other areas.
Speaking about the economic development of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan stressed that the government set out to change the economic structure of the country, giving priority to technological development based on the availability of the necessary potential. The Prime Minister of Armenia stressed that the government has already achieved significant success in overcoming corruption and expressed confidence that this will contribute to improving the business environment and economic progress.
