ArmInfo.On October 11, Chairman of the National Assembly of Armenia Ara Babloyan received a delegation led by the Vice-Speaker of the State Duma of Russia, Sergei Neverov.
According to the parliament's press service, Babloyan highly appreciated the current level of bilateral relations, stressed the importance of parliamentary diplomacy and stressed the importance of strengthening inter-parliamentary relations.
The speaker touched upon cooperation between the two countries at international parliamentary sites. Touching upon the events in Armenia, the head of the legislative body assured that the changes in the country did not in any way affect the strategic partnership between Armenia and Russia. In this context, Babloyan stressed that all domestic political issues should be carried out through negotiations in the framework of mutual agreements. In turn, Sergei Neverov expressed confidence that the centuries-old friendship and allied relations between the two countries will continue to expand. He also noted the importance of the development and deepening of the Armenian-Russian inter-parliamentary relations, as well as cooperation in the CSTO of the CIS. The interlocutors discussed the polls of the plenary sessions of the PA CSTO, which will be held in Yerevan from October 29 to 30. Ara Babloyan assured the guests that the National Assembly of Armenia is ready to organize high-level meetings. During the meeting other issues of bilateral interest were also discussed.
