ArmInfo.President of the Republic of Armenia Armen Sargsyan received Spartak Seyranyan, member of the Dashnaktsutyun Armenian Revolutionary Federation parliamentary faction, and Vahe Enfiajyan, secretary of the Tsarukyan faction.
As reported by the press service of the RA President, the meeting discussed issues related to the political situation in the country. In particular, the issue of holding early parliamentary elections was discussed. Armen Sargsyan reiterated the need to resolve all disputed issues through dialogue and within the framework of the Constitution and laws.
The secretary of the Tsarukyan faction stressed the importance of the principles enshrined in the joint memorandum between the head of the government and the Tsarukyan Bloc parliamentary faction. According to him, the faction is confident that all processes should be logical, balanced and within the law. Earlier it was reported that Armenian President Armen Sarkisian initiated a series of consultations with representatives of parliamentary factions to discuss the situation created in the country. On October 10, Sargsyan met with the leader of the parliamentary faction of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) Vahram Baghdasaryan, who confirmed the statement of the RPA faction that the party, although not agree with the arguments about the need for early elections in December, did not intend and does not intend to nominate a candidate for prime minister.
Recall that on the evening of October 8, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and the leader of the Prosperous Armenia Party and the Tsarukyan Bloc parliamentary faction Gagik Tsarukyan signed a joint memorandum on holding early parliamentary elections in December 2018. The memorandum notes that in the case of the Prime Minister's self-resignation in order to organize early parliamentary elections and the dissolution of the National Assembly, the Tsarukyan faction, as a contributing force to the revolution, undertakes not to nominate a candidate for the post of prime minister and not to assist any other candidate for the post of head of government. Also, the deputies of the faction will not take part in the initiative to nominate a candidate for the post of prime minister by 1/3 of the NA deputies. The parties also undertake to conduct a campaign for extraordinary parliamentary elections on the basis of correctness and mutual respect, subject to other conditions established by the current legislation of the Republic of Armenia.
