ArmInfo.The decision to refuse to nominate by the Republican Party of Armenia of its candidate for the post of Prime Minister in the case of Nikol Pashinyan's resignation was made 6 months ago, the head of the Republican Party faction Vahram Baghdasaryan stated in an interview with journalists today.
He noted that this was a general decision of the party. "Moreover, I want to note that the Republican Party initially had no intention to nominate its candidate for the post of prime minister in the event of Pashinyan's resignation, and he was aware of this," the RPA faction head stressed.
Baghdasaryan also assured that the RPA faction decided not to hinder the work of the government. MP did not answer the question of whether the Republican Party will take part in early parliamentary elections. "We don't know when they will take place, when the time comes, then we will talk about it," the head of the RPA faction said.
Baghdasaryan did not rule out the possibility that the Republican Party could become a non-parliamentary political force. "In politics, nothing can be ruled out. No one can remain a parliamentary political force, or representative of the authorities all the time," said the deputy.
When asked why Serzh Sargsyan was silent for so long, Vahram Baghdasaryan replied: "He is not silent, he speaks during the meeting of the RPA Supreme Body. He does not take sole decisions, any decision is always taken during the discussions," the deputy concluded.
