ArmInfo.The first meeting of the newly elected Council of Elders of Yerevan, formed following the results of the early elections on September 23, will be held on October 10 at 11.00 am. This was reported by the press service of the Municipality.
According to the source, the agenda of the meeting of the Council of Elders includes five issues - the formation of a temporary counting commission, organizational issues related to the swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected mayor, the formation of commissions, the nomination of chairmen of commissions and their deputies and deciding the next day of the meeting of the Council of Elders.
To recall, on September 23, the "My Step" bloc won the elections to the Council of Elders of Yerevan, supported by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. According to the CEC, 294,109 voters, or 81.06% of those eligible to vote, cast their votes for the bloc. The second party was "Prosperous Armenia" with the result of 6.95% or 25,219 votes, the third - the Luys (Light) bloc, for which 18,112 voters or 4.99% of the residents of the capital of Armenia cast their votes.
Under the current law, at least three political forces must be represented in the 65-member Council of Elders. Thus, , comic actor Hayk Marutyan who leads the list of the My Step bloc, automatically becomes mayor of Yerevan, since this political force received more than 50% of the votes.
