ArmInfo.Artsakh should be involved in the work of all international human rights organizations. Armenian Ombudsman Arman Tatoyan expressed a similar point of view.
At the same time, he stressed that the civilized community should learn about Artsakh through its democracy, human rights system and civil society. "Women, children, elderly people, people with disabilities live here, whose rights should be protected. Protecting the lives and health of our compatriots living in Artsakh and their physical security is a priority," the Armenian human rights defender said. According to him, it is necessary to ensure visits of the international human rights community in Artsakh. "In all these issues, the Ombudsman of Artsakh, which carries out independent activities from the point of view of human rights, without political influence, plays an indispensable role," said Tatoyan.
At the same time, he added that thanks to the efforts of the now former ombudsman of Artsakh Ruben Melikian, the international community learned about Armenian phobia and about the atrocities that the Azerbaijani armed forces staged during the April 2016 war against Armenians. He recalled that reports of those atrocities were submitted to international authoritative organizations like Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International, European Ombudsman Institute.
