ArmInfo. A delegation from Armenia took part in a meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE PA) in Bishkek.
As the press service of the parliament reports, the parliamentarians from Armenia in their speeches again stressed that Azerbaijan, against the will of a significant part of the OSCE countries, initiated and implemented the closure of the OSCE missions in both Baku and Yerevan, which in turn limited the possibility of conflict resolution and border security.
Speaking on the agenda of the meeting, Hermine Naghdalyan, in particular, highly appreciated the work of the OSCE regional missions in deepening and strengthening regional security in the countries of Central Asia. In overcoming regional challenges, the Deputy of the National Assembly emphasized the initiatives of the political leaders of the Central Asian states. She referred to the abolition of the OSCE Yerevan Office, noting that this, in the context of fulfilling the commitments of the organization, not only isolated Armenia from cooperation with it, but also significantly limited the contribution of local missions to the possible work of countries and societies on both sides of the border. The head of the delegation added that Armenia, being faithful to its commitments to the OSCE, together with the secretariat of the structure, developed the "Program of cooperation of Armenia", which includes the main activities of the closed office. "This indicates that we are ready to continue constructive and positive cooperation with the OSCE," Hermine Naghdalyan said. The NA deputy in addressing security issues stressed the effective use of OSCE instruments such as arms control, measures to strengthen security and confidence, border control, etc. In this context, she reiterated that the decisions of Vienna and St. Petersburg that are still not implemented important guarantee of the execution and observance of the trilateral truce agreement signed in Bishkek in 1994 between NK, Azerbaijan and the RA. In turn, MP Arman Sagatelyan, in his speech, expressed confidence that the mandate of the OSCE missions can play a crucial role, and the Republic of Armenia will always contribute to the expansion of this mandate. He noted that the states neighboring with Armenia in the west and east act with non-constructive means - a transport blockade, hostile and aggressive rhetoric, brought to the level of state policy by xenophobia and Armenophobia.
