ArmInfo. No agreement was reached during the meeting with Pashinyan, but negotiations may continue today, representatives of the parliamentary forces who participated in the meeting with the prime minister stated.
As the Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, Spokesperson of the Republican Party Eduard Sharmazanov, told ArmInfo correspondent, the draft on amending the Law On the Rules of Procedure of the National Assembly is not aimed at torpedoing early elections, but only ensuring the normal functioning of parliament in case of force majeure. He stressed that the main stumbling block in the matter of holding early elections is their deadlines, political forces do not understand the hasty actions of the authorities, if it was originally planned to hold elections in June 2019. According to Sharmazanov, the political forces have different approaches on the issue of early elections - some say that a roadmap should be drawn up, others consider it necessary to carry out legislative reforms, and others focus on the need to adhere to the principle of separation of powers. "Only one thing is clear, that all processes should take place within the framework of the law, through negotiations, and not force. In this regard, it is possible that another round of negotiations will take place today," he concluded.
In turn, head of the ARF "Dashnaktsutyun" faction Armen Rustamyan stated that the issue of elections is not decided at rallies, but through negotiations. "If the parliament is dissolved under pressure of force, it will contradict the Constitution, which, in turn, will negatively affect the international authority of the country. Those forces that voted for the law on amending the law on the NA Rules of Procedure are not against early elections, but do not understand why should they be held right now, what's the rush, there are no explanations for this, "he said, stressing that today no one listens to logical arguments, everyone wants to listen to praises for Pashinyan. At the same time, the MP stressed that today it is Pashinyan who is the main person responsible for the maintenance of constitutional order in the country, and he must do everything so that the processes do not go beyond the norms of the main law.
Meanwhile, immediately after the talks, Pashinyan said that the political forces did not intend to nominate a candidate for the post of prime minister after his resignation, while stressing that no specific agreement had been reached.
