ArmInfo. The Emergency Services, Ambulance and Armenian Police will be able to access citizens' personal data in emergency situations. The amendments in the law "On Electronic Communication" were made at the regular meeting of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia on October 3 in the second and final reading.
Introducing the draft amendments, First Deputy Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technologies of the Republic of Armenia Hakob Arshakyan stressed that during its activities since 2011, the "911" Emergency Response Center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Armenia received over 6 million calls. "Often there are cases when a citizen who called for objective or subjective reasons cannot provide information about his whereabouts. In such circumstances, the process of emergency medical help is significantly late and, in fact, is delayed. As a result, there is a need to attract additional forces," explained Arshakyan . For this reason, it is proposed to allow the Emergency Situations Ministry, Emergency Aid Services, as well as the Armenian Police to introduce and use the system for determining the location in case of receiving alarms. In particular, allow the operator or employee providing the relevant services to determine the location of the citizen who gave the alarm. In addition, as noted by the First Deputy Minister, the operator or employee providing relevant services, will be allowed access to the personal data of the citizen.
