ArmInfo. National mourning will be declared in Armenia on the day of the funeral of Charles Aznavour, Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan wrote about this on his Facebook page.
"This is a great loss for the Armenian, French people. This is a universal loss," said Pashinyan. Earlier, thousands of Armenian citizens lit candles on Aznavour Square in the center of Yerevan in memory of the world famous chansonnier who died on Monday. Memorial actions take place in Gyumri, Stepanakert.
Pashinyan, Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan, members of the government and French Ambassador to Armenia Jonathan Lacote participated in the candlelight ceremony in Aznavour Square. French singer, composer, writer and actor of Armenian descent Charles Aznavour died in France at the age of 94. He was the ambassador of Armenia to Switzerland and the representative of the republic to UNESCO.
