ArmInfo. For a week (October 7-12) Armenia will become the capital of Francophonie, Ambassador of France to Armenia Jonathan Lacote announced at a press conference in Yerevan on September 28. He reminded that heads of states and governments from 84 countries of the world will arrive in Armenia, many of whom do not have diplomatic representation in Armenia. "The summit will allow representatives of these countries to discover Armenia, the OIF summit should become a holiday for Armenia and the French language," the diplomat said.
At the same time, he stressed that within the framework of the summit, a ministerial meeting, business forum, and the summit itself will take place, in which French President Emmanuel Macron will participate. "We hope that the summit of the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF) will also open a new agenda in the Armenian-French relations, and it would be desirable that the summit becomes a new beginning in the relations between Armenia and France, as well as with the member countries of the OIF." The message of these events is that the French language is a language of opportunities. This language is spoken by about 270 million people around the world, on all continents," the French diplomat said, adding that within the framework of the events the village of Francophonie will be opened, where more than 20 countries will open pavilions, including France, and which will become a platform for business and cultural communication.
The French pavilion will be located on an area of 150 square meters and it will feature several sectors, in particular business and development; digital sector, media and culture; sciences and languages; and two sectors are allocated for the craft and territories. Visitors will have the opportunity using special glasses to make a trip to France, get acquainted with the business opportunities of the country, learn about educational programs, get acquainted with the cuisine, culture etc.
Besides, a gala concert will take place at the Republic Square on October 11, in which French singer performing under stage name Zaz will sing.
