ArmInfo. The Co-Chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group made a statement following their meetings with Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan and Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov from September 25 to 27 on the margins of the UN General Assembly.
It is noted that Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office Andrzej Kasprzyk joined the co- chairs at the meetings, and also met with the OSCE Secretary General, the UN Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs and the representative of the Italian Chairmanship in the OSCE
"The ministers continued talks on a peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. The Co-Chairs and Ministers discussed the situation in the region and sought clarification on several recent statements and incidents of concern. The Co-Chairs expressed deep regret at the continuing loss of life and warned ministers about the dangers of escalation, urging the parties to participate constructively in the formation of a constructive atmosphere and avoid rhetoric that could aggravate the situation. The co-chairs stressed that a comprehensive settlement would require compromises from all parties, "the statement said.
In this context, it is noted that the Armenian and Azeri FMs confirmed the importance of taking measures to intensify the negotiation process and take additional measures to reduce tensions. And also agreed to hold another meeting before the end of the year. The co-chairs plan to visit the region in the near future, and then inform the OSCE Minsk Group and the Permanent Council about the negotiations.
