ArmInfo. A few days ago, the European Court of Human Rights delivered its first decision on one of the verdicts in the case of March 1, 2008, and this decision is very important (referring to the lawsuit filed by one of the defendants in the March 1 case of Mushegh Saghatelyan, ed.) . Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan stated this at a meeting with representatives of the Armenian community of the United States in New York on September 23.
"As lawyers note, the legal significance of this decision lies in the fact that from March 1, 2008 and after that the Armenian judicial system acted illegally." There were serious problems in the judicial system of Armenia, I stated this during the rally on August 17, this fixed its verdict and the ECHR, "Pashinyan said.
It should be noted that a few days ago the European Court of Human Rights issued another decision against Armenia in the case of March 1, 2008, according to which RA citizen Mushegh Saghatelyan was sentenced to 5 years in prison for resisting the representative of the authorities and illegal possession of weapons. The ECHR verdict, in particular, notes that during the investigative activities against Saghatelyan, violence was used, his legal rights and freedoms were not respected, and his arrest was unlawful. With this in mind, the ECtHR forced Armenia to pay Sagintelan as compensation for moral damages of EUR 15,600 and EUR 5,000 for reimbursement of costs for the trial.
