Extraordinary elections to the Council of Elders of Yerevan started on September 23 in the capital of Armenia. There are four blocs and eight parties in the elections. According to the results of the vote, the first number of the list of political force, which received more than 50% of the vote, automatically becomes the mayor of the capital of Armenia. If none of the political forces has won more than 50% of the votes, all factions included in the Council of Elders have the right to nominate their candidate, who must be elected by a majority vote of the members of the Council, consisting of 65 members.
