ArmInfo. At a meeting of the RA National Assembly on January 13, Tigran Urikhanyan, the NA MP from the Tsarukyan bloc faction, was elected chairman of the Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Youth and Sport.
In total, 85 MPs participated in the secret ballot out of 105 members of the Armenian parliament. 74 MPs voted for the candidacy of Tigran Urikhanyan, 10 voted against . One ballot was declared invalid.
In his speech, the elected head of the committee expressed gratitude to the faction for the confidence. He stressed the importance of developing the education sector, which must meet the requirements of the XXI century. The MP also expressed gratitude to the 10 MPs who voted against him, which, according to Urikhanyan, is another evidence of the existing problems in the fields of science, education, culture, youth and sport. "I am ready to serve Armenia, the parliament and the people," Tigran Urikhanyan said.
To recall the post of the head of the committee remained vacant after the MP from the "Tsarukyan Bloc" faction Vardan Bostanjyan laid down his mandate.
