ArmInfo. The increase in the number of violations of the ceasefire regime on the Armenian-Azerbaijani state border in the Tavush direction is not conditioned by the ''Shant-2018'' command-staff exercises, as no radical changes were registered on the eve of the exercises, Head of the General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces Artak Davtyan stated on September 12 in a conversation with journalists touching upon the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border in the north- eastern direction.
"However, in the context of the latest 10 days, the number of shells by the enemy in the direction of our settlements has increased, there are no damages at the moment, the shots were mainly aimed at exerting moral and psychological pressure." In particular, yesterday Voskepar-Baghanis road was fired, the day before yesterday - the villages of Koti, Chinari and Vazashen. The Armenian side refrained from shelling enemy's settlements, and the fire was opened at the firing points of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, "Davtyan said.
According to the Head of the General Staff, after the shelling of a particular settlement, contact with the head of the community is established to find out whether there was any damage or not. But, in any case, according to him, the Armenian side gives an adequate response to all the enemy's actions. Speaking about other sectors of the border, Davtyan said that, in comparison with other years, there is certain activity. "We are talking about Nakhchivan direction, and this is due to objective and subjective reasons, however the General Staff does not see any reasons that could cause concern, and we see no reason to escalate the situation," Davtyan said.
