ArmInfo. Constitutional changes in Armenia are possible only in case of political consensus. President of the National Assembly Ara Babloyan said this on September 11, answering the question about what he thinks of the proposal for constitutional changes that will lead to the self-dissolution of the parliament.
The President of the National Assembly noted that such a proposal has not yet been received. "This is a political process that can be resolved through discussions and consensus, that is, such a decision can not be made on the basis of the will of one or two political figures, this decision can be taken solely on the basis of consensus," the President of the National Assembly explained.
At the same time, Babloyan noted that he can not say with certainty when early elections to parliament will take place. "As you know, a working group has now been set up in parliament that is engaged in legislative changes, and these works are not yet completed, so I can not name the exact time of the early elections to the National Assembly," the speaker concluded.
To note on September 2, during a video message, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that the government is developing a draft of constitutional reforms on the self-dissolution of the parliament. According to him, the parliamentary elections should be held no later than early June 2019. RPA MP Armen Ashotyan reacted very negatively to this statement of Pashinyan, who noted that it would be wonderful if the government of the country occupied itself with its direct duties, and would direct all efforts to improve the lives of Armenian citizens.
