ArmInfo. Sanitek Armenia has again been fined. It will have to pay 12.9 million drams for improper conduct of garbage collection in Yerevan.
The municipality of the Armenian capital, which found itself drowning in its own waste in August, established earlier reasonable time for eliminating the shortcomings, having fined the company 12 million drams, but the company failed to fulfill them properly.
Previously, "Sanitek Armenia" company filed its objections, pointing at poor technical condition of their own garbage trucks, caused by anomalous heat, lack of necessary conditions for the disposal of waste, a large number of damaged garbage cans, etc.
According to the information of Yerevan Municipality, it in turn, undertakes measures to support the company to normalize operations, replace garbage containers. In case of non-compliance with the agreements, the mayor's office will have to take full responsibility for ensuring continuity of garbage collection.
"Sanitek Armenia", a monopoly company engaged in garbage collection, is a subsidiary of the international company "Sanitek International Group", founded in 2010 in Beirut. In the Armenian capital, it began operating in December 2014. According to experts, such large cities as Yerevan should not have monopoly waste cleaners, and the city will face this problem all the time until a competitive environment is created in the garbage collection market.
