ArmInfo. A criminal case has been opened against former Prime Minister of Armenia Hovik Abrahamyan in two articlesfull. As ArmInfo was told in the Special Investigation Service, Abrahamyan was charged with part 1 of article 309 (abuse of office) and 310 articlesfull of the Criminal Code of Armenia (illegal participation in business activities).
Thus, according to the materials of the case, it was revealed that in 2008 a group of Armenian officials forced the management of Avazaatik, a company engaged in sand mining in the Ararat region, to rewrite 60% of ZAO to two high-ranking officials (30% each). According to the CAS, Avazaatic was established in 2000 and invested about $ 80,000 in loan extraction.
Not limited to this, the head of the community of Noramarg, where ZAO was engaged in the extraction of sand, filed a lawsuit with the court about the termination of the Avazaatik agreement on the lease of the land plot where the mine is located. The court granted this claim. After that, a new lease agreement was signed with the new owners. Among them, the owners of Avazaatik CJSC pointed to Hovik Abrahamyan, his brother Jonik and the former head of the RA Police Alik Sargsyan. Abrahamyan himself today called these charges politically motivated and fabricated. Previously, in the premises belonging to the Abrahamians, searches were carried out. In the mechanical plant of Mkhchyan, which, according to the investigation, was de facto owned by the Abrahamians, illegal weapons were found that were sent for examination. The investigation suspects that this weapon could be used during the March 2008 events. However, there are no responses yet.
