ArmInfo. The telephone greeting of Russian President Vladimir Putin to the second President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan on the occasion of his birthday had no political connotation, it should be viewed in the plane of human, friendly relations. This was stated in the conversation with journalists by RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, stressing that he had already become well acquainted with Putin and understood the manner of his communication.
"I already managed to get to know Putin (Pashinyan and the head of Russia met twice), and I can say that he values people's relations very much and supports them both with representatives of existing and former authorities of different countries, for example, against the background of rather tense relations with EU countries, Putin, however, took part in the wedding of the Austrian Foreign Minister, "he said. Touching upon his forthcoming visit to Russia on September 8, Pashinyan assured that during the meeting with Putin the entire range of Russian-Armenian relations will be discussed.
Commenting on the statement of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov that the internal political situation in Armenia is still boiling, Pashinyan joked: "Well, yes, today it's quite hot weather."
To note, on August 31, Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated the second president of Armenia Robert Kocharian on his birthday. The message about the telephone conversation, despite its informal nature, was posted on the Kremlin's official website. Days earlier, accused of overthrowing the constitutional order in Armenia, Kocharian gave an interview to the Russian NTV television company and the state television and radio company Sputnik. The Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov also made mixed statements on the latest developments in Armenia. All this has become the basis for the opinion in the political and expert circles of the tension in the Armenian-Russian relations and the Kremlin's support for Kocharyan.
