
ArmInfo.Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan met with the head of the foreign policy department of Rwanda Luiz Mushikivabo, she was accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Gabon as the chairman of the African Union, the Minister of Francophonie and regional integration Regi Imongol as the representative of the African Union.
The press service of the Armenian Foreign Ministry told ArmInfo that Mnatsakanyan stressed the importance of the visit of his colleagues to Armenia from the point of view of the first high-level visit of the representatives of these two countries to Yerevan.
The Armenian Minister spoke about the political interest of the authorities of the country to further expand the all-round interaction with the African continent.
The Armenian and Rwandan FMs appreciated the effective cooperation that has been established between the countries on the international platform, stressing the importance of implementing joint steps to promote the bilateral agenda.
Mnatsakanyan told about the preparations for the Francophonie summit, which will be held in Yerevan in October this year, stressing that it is a great honor for Armenia to hold the summit, at the same time it is a great responsibility, and the Armenian side seriously approached the event at the very high level. According to him, Armenia highly values the role of the OIF, as an effective platform for dialogue and exchange of views, and as an active member of the organization is committed to its goals and principles.
Mnatsakanyan spoke about the international efforts of Yerevan to prevent genocide and crimes against humanity, noting the importance of cooperation between Armenia and Rwanda, therefore, issues. According to the Armenian Minister, Yerevan is taking initiatives in the above direction as a responsible member of the international community.
During the visit, the Foreign Ministers of Rwanda and Gabon visited the memorial complex of the victims of the Armenian Genocide Tsitsernakaberd, and paid tribute to the memory of the holy martyrs. They also left notes in the Memorial Book of the Museum-Institute of the Armenian Genocide.
