ArmInfo. The Minister of Education and Science of Armenia Araik Harutyunyan expressed his puzzlement over the frenzy of the Armenian-Chinese school that opened in Yerevan.
In an interview with reporters on August 22, the Minister stressed that apart from an in-depth study of the Chinese language, the school will not be different from other educational institutions. "I do not understand the excitement around this school, we have many other schools where we teach the Chinese language, I call parents to go to other schools." If I'm not mistaken, we have 6 schools with in-depth training of the Chinese language, "said Araik Harutyunyan.
Today, the opening ceremony of the Armenian-Chinese school was held. The government of Armenia decided in 2016 to build a school with an in-depth study of the Chinese language on the basis of one of Yerevan's senior schools. The Chinese side, within the framework of the signed agreement, assumed all the obligations to design and build the school on an area of 15 thousand square meters. The right of control of work was assigned to the Armenian side. The project, the total cost of which was estimated at $ 15 million, was fully funded by the PRC. 405 schoolchildren from 5 to 12 classes will study here. The Chinese language will be studied in depth as the main foreign language, and all other subjects will be taught in Armenian.
