ArmInfo. In Armenia, justice is exercised by the judicial system, and one should ask it all the questions, the Armenian Police Chief Valery Osipyan reacted to the journalists' request to assess the situation around the members of the Sasna Tsrer group, who captured the police regiment in July 2016, the last members of which were released the other day.
Osipyan noted that, despite the fact that he had direct relation to those events, because he was taken hostage by the group, nevertheless, all judgments about the lawfulness of actions should be provided by the judicial system. Osipyan also said that he was interrogated during the investigation, but was not invited to court, but if invited, he is ready to repeat what was said earlier. "I was held hostage, this is unequivocal, and my colleagues were also captured. As for the change in the measure of restraint, the court should decide it. "There are defendants who, we can consider have served their sentence for two years. "As for the rest, we'll talk later," Osipyan said.
Asked to comment on Pavel Manukyan's statement that the perpetrator of the death of the policeman was not Bilyan, as the investigation believes, but Grigoryan, Osipyan noted that he is not informed, since he was in the regiment after the murder.
To recall, on July 17, 2016, the Sasna Tsrer group seized the regiment of the Armenian Police Service in the administrative district of Erebuni in Yerevan, demanding the release of coordinator of the civil initiative "Constituent Parliament" Zhirayr Sefilyan, who was under arrest on charges of illegally purchasing and storing weapons . The group folded their arms and surrendered to the authorities on July 31. All this time protests were held in the capital in support of the members of the group. In the course of these events, 3 law enforcers were killed and 6 others were injured. After Nikol Pashinyan came to power, all members of the group were released.
