ArmInfo.Law enforcement bodies of Armenia did not receive any alerts on the incident related to failure of Armenian second President Robert Kocharyan's press conference, Armenian Police Chief Valery Osipyan stated on August 21, during a press conference in Yerevan.
"As for the activists who disrupted the press conference of the second Armenian President Robert Kocharyan, which was to be held at the Erebuni Plaza Hotel, the police did not officially receive any reports regarding the obstruction of the activities of someone or bringing someone to responsibility. In any case, according to the materials we have, I do not consider anything illegal in those actions: Every citizen has the right to express his/her will, and can carry out rallies, meetings, protests anywhere in any place, but do it within the framework of the law. However, this does not mean at all that after this statement, citizens will start holding protests as they like, referring to my words. I emphasize that everything should be within the law, "Osipyan said.
At the same time, he stressed once again, that even if it is conditionally assumed that the activists' actions were illegal, there were no reports on this incident to the police.
To note, on August 14, Robert Kocharyan's press conference was planned, which was disrupted by the protesters "Hello, Rob". Activists broke into the hall, where the a press conference was planned shouting "Assassin". Kocharyan's office issued a statement on the incident, accusing the incumbent authorities of violating freedom of speech.
