ArmInfo. At a rally on the Republic Square on August 17 there were from 120 to 150 thousand citizens. The head of the Armenian Police Valery Osipyan stated this during a press conference in Yerevan on August 21.
To clarify why the police stopped publishing data on the number of people gathered at rallies, Osipyan assured that in recent years law enforcement agencies have never published such data. According to him, the figures are collected, the relevant reports are compiled, but they are not presented to the public. "As for the rally in the Republic Square, according to our data, on August 17 there were about 120 thousand people directly on it, plus a fairly large number of citizens were also in the territories adjacent to the area, and the total number of people involved in the rally is up to 150 thousand people," said the chief of police. At the same time, he added that the rally was organized at a high level, and no serious incidents were recorded.
On August 17, Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan convened a rally on the Republic Square, where he summed up the results of the 100 days of being in power and told about the future activity vector.
