ArmInfo. Official Yerevan closely follows all those processes that may have a direct or indirect impact on Armenia. This was announced on August 14 by the acting spokesperson of the Armenian Foreign Ministry, Anna Naghdalyan, referring to the Convention on the Legal Status of the Caspian Sea, signed by the heads of the Caspian littoral states and the possible isolation of the RA.
According to her, the signed agreement concerns 5 countries that signed the document and the Armenian Foreign Ministry has nothing to comment on.
At the same time, Naghdalyan stressed that all processes that could have a direct or indirect impact on Armenia are closely monitored by the Armenian side. "Armenia follows the developments of the situation, and on their basis will draw the appropriate conclusions," she said.
To note, on August 12 the leaders of the five Caspian Sea littoral countries signed in Aktau the Convention on the Legal Status of the Caspian Sea. Negotiations of Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Russia and Turkmenistan on the development of the agreement lasted more than 20 years. The details of the agreement signed on Sunday in the Kazakh port city of Aktau have not been made public yet. One of the reasons the negotiations lasted so long was the issue of sharing of the Caspian hydrocarbon deposits. According to available data, under the basin and the surrounding areas of the Caspian Sea there are billions of barrels of oil and trillions of cubic meters of natural gas. In addition, agreements on cooperation in the field of transport and security were signed within the framework of the forum.
