Pashinyan: Hayk Marutyan is an excellent candidate for the post of  Yerevan mayor 

ArmInfo. "Civil Contract" discusses the format of participation in the elections of the Council of Elders of Yerevan, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said in  conversation with journalists during his visit to Tavush region of  Armenia.

"The "Civil Contract" will probably participate in the bloc, but it  is also possible that it will not be the "Yelk", but another bloc.  "Undoubtedly, we will nominate our candidate, "he said.

Referring to Hayk Marutyan's candidacy for the post of Yerevan Mayor,  the Prime Minister noted that he is an excellent candidate. "Hayk  Marutyan is brilliant public figure, manager, and everyone will be  convinced of this during the election campaign, "the Prime Minister  said.

To recall, on July 29 as a result of the meeting of the board of the  "Civil Contract" party, actor Hayk Marutyan, better known as "Kargin  Hayko" was nominated as a candidate for the post of mayor of Yerevan  from the "Civil Contract". This was reported by the MP of the  National Assembly, a member of the "Civil Contract" party and former  member of the Council of Elders of Yerevan Alen Simonyan.

To recall, the former mayor of Yerevan, Taron Margaryan, who held   this post since 2011, announced about his resignation on July 9.  Actor Hayk Marutyan (from the Civil Contract party), Zaruhi  Postanjyan (leader of the Yerkir Tsirani party), Ararat  Zurabyan  (Armenian National Movement) will participate in the early  elections  to the Yerevan Council of Elders in September this year. The  "Enlightened Armenia" Party and the "Republic" propose the candidacy   of the Minister of Justice of Armenia Artak Zeynalyan.

The daughter  of the prominent Armenian architect Arthur Tarkhanyan, who is the  wife of the political prisoner recently released and convicted by the  former  authorities for organizing the riots, Andreas Ghukasyan -  Anahit  Tarkhanyan (GALA party) also expressed an intention to run in  elections. Yesterday Heritage party also announced about its  intention to participate in the elections of the Council of Elders of  Yerevan, which will afterwards elect the mayor of Yerevan.
