ArmInfo. If necessary, the Special Investigative Service is ready to provide the former judge of the Constitutional Court of Armenia Valery Pogosyan with the statutory protection, the SIS told Arminfo, referring to Poghosyan's discontent with the fact that the investigative body, having disclosed his name in the framework of the case against former head of Robert Kocharyan's presidential administration Armen Gevorgyan, did not ensure his safety.
"Did the SIS think about my security before publicizing my name? Am I a tool but not a human being for them?, Poghosyan complained in an interview to RFE/RL's Armenian service.
It is noteworthy that the SIS did not want to comment on the main theme of Poghosyan's interview, according to which the former head of Kocharyan's administration did not exert pressure on him. " SIS does not intend to comment on that statement made by Poghosyan," ArmInfo's correspondent was told in the Special Investigation Service.
Earlier in an interview to RFE/RLs Armenian service (Azatutyun.am) Poghosyan said that he did not allege pressure from Kocharyan's staff when he was questioned by SIS investigators recently. I did not say such a thing. I told them some facts which they portray as pressure," said the former judge.
Asked whether he or his brother faced pressure from the outgoing Armenian president in March 2008, Poghosyan said: "I did not give such testimony." He insisted in that regard that he has never met with Gevorgyan.
Meanwhile, the SIS statement says that pressure was exerted on Valery Poghosyan by Armen Gevorgyan, the head of the administration of the second president, through Poghosyan's brother , then working in the Kocharyan's apparatus, so that he would vote for "the decision coming out of Kocharyan's interests in the presidential elections" . Armen Gevorgyan is accused of obstructing justice and interference in the judicial process. A written undertaking not to leave the place was chosen against Gevorgyan as a preventive measure.
