ArmInfo.A new representative of the UN World Food Program in Armenia was appointed. She became Elena Milosevic, who on the eve presented her credentials on accreditation to RA Deputy Foreign Minister Ruben Rubinyan.
According to the press service of the RA MFA, congratulating Elena Milosevic on his appointment, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia stressed the importance of effective interaction with the World Food Program in the context of various programs implemented in Armenia.
The interlocutors noted with satisfaction the successes and experience accumulated in recent years in the implementation of the school feeding program. They pointed to the importance of the decisions taken at the 18th global forum, which took place in September 2016 in Armenia. The parties noted that at present, as a result of the program "Stable school meals", thousands of children from the regions of the country are provided with school meals.
During the meeting, the importance of implementing the UN "Sustainable Development 2030" agenda was also highlighted, most of which concerns the solution of problems with child nutrition and maternal health. Earlier it was reported that the program "Stable school meals" will be implemented until the end of 2018. In parallel, work is underway to develop a program strategy, which includes the continuation of the program until 2025. To recall, the government of the Russian Federation is acting as the donor country for the Armenian schools, with the support of which the program will be funded by the end of 2018 at $ 35.6 million. The goal of the program is to provide 60,000 junior students classes and preparatory groups from 600 schools in six regions of Armenia with meals that are provided 180 days a year. The program was launched in Armenia in 2010 on the basis of an agreement reached between the Government of Armenia and the UN World Food Program.
