ArmInfo. The process of supply of Russian weapons to Armenia within the framework of 100 mln military loan has not been cut off, Armenian Defense Minister David Tonoyan told journalists in Dilijan. He assured that the process of supplying Russian weapons to Armenia continues to this day. The Minister also reminded that Armenia purchases weapons not only from the CSTO member countries, but also from other countries that are not members of the organization.
Touching upon the issue of recalling CSTO Secretary General Yuri Khachaturov, who is being accused within the case on March 1, 2008 events, Tonoyan informed that the Russian side did not raise the issue of stopping Khachaturov's criminal prosecution.
According to him, the issue of new candidate to assume the post instead of Khachaturov has not been discussed yet. "I think that Armenia should chair the CSTO before the end of the envisaged term," the Minister said, adding that the issue of continuing Armenia's chairmanship in the CSTO should be given a collective decision.
To note, that information leaked to the media, according to which Russia intends to cut off supply of weapons to Armenia within a one hundred million loan agreement because of the criminal prosecution against Khachaturov. However, today Deputy Defense Minister of Russia Alexander Fomin also did not confirm this information. "This is inaccurate information, and I do not confirm it," he said.
