Italian President arrives in Armenia on a state visit

Today, on July 30, the  President of   Italy Sergio Mattarella arrived in Armenia with a  two-day state visit - together with his daughter Laura Mattarella on  the invitation of the President of Armenia Armen Sarkissian. At the  airport they were met by Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab  Mnatsakanyan.

According to the press office of the Armenian  President, the  delegation headed by President Mattarella included the Minister of  Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of  Italy, Enzo Moavero  Milanesi, as well as other officials. Today an official welcoming  ceremony of the Italian President will be held in the residence of  the President, followed by a conversation between Presidents Armen  Sakissian and Sergio Mattarella in a tete-a-tete format and  negotiations in an expanded format with the participation of  delegations of the two countries. Presidents Sarkissian and  Mattarella will make statements for the press.

As part of the state visit, the Italian president will meet with the  country's top leadership, will be received by Catholicos of All  Armenians Karekin II. The delegation headed by Sergio Mattarella will  visit the Tsitsernakaberd Memorial Complex, lay a wreath at the  monument commemorating the victims of the Armenian Genocide. In the  presence of the Presidents of Armenia and Italy, the opening ceremony  of the Armenian-Italian Center for the Preservation of Cultural  Heritage will be held.
