ArmInfo. The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs of Armenia will initiate discussions on July 31 under the law "On Trade Unions". This was announced by the head of the department Mane Tandilyan at the government meeting on July 26.
According to her, the goal of the upcoming meeting will be to discuss the existing gaps and problems in the current law in order to bring it into line with today's realities. The minister stressed that the government of the republic as a whole does not object to amendments to the law, which were proposed by a group of deputies from the "Tsarukyan Bloc" faction. Currently, the law provides that members of trade unions may be employees who have entered into a labor agreement with employers in the industry. Legislation also proposes to change the situation, enabling individuals working in different sectors to create and join independent trade unions. The bill proposes to establish the possibility of creating an independent trade union and membership in it, which will make it accessible to all people with different professions and working for various employers. The Minister stressed that for the executive body the draft law is acceptable, since it creates opportunities for independent work of trade unions.
It should be noted that the Cabinet of Ministers supported the bill.
