ArmInfo On July 23, Armen Ashotyan, Chairman of the National Assembly's Standing Committee on Foreign Relations, received Christoph Plos, Member of the German Bundestag. According to the press service of the Parliament, Ashotyan noted the importance of developing relations between the parliaments of the two countries.
During the meeting, the sides touched upon the prospects for economic cooperation between the two countries. In turn, the German deputy noted that Germany has an interest in investment programs in Armenia, in this vein stressing the importance of ensuring investment security.
The sides also touched upon the Agreement on a comprehensive and expanded partnership between Armenia and the European Union, in connection with which the chairman of the commission stressed that the document is a foreign policy achievement of the former authorities, and the parliament will be demanding of the government regarding the implementation of the RA-EU agreement. Ashotyan expressed hope that the German parliament will soon join a number of countries that have ratified the Agreement.
In connection with the problems of foreign and security policy, the commission chairman noted that Armenia will continue the policy pursued by the previous authorities.
During the meeting, the last processes in Armenia were also touched upon, issues of electoral legislation reform were discussed. Ashotyan in the process of reforms
The Electoral Code singled out the formation of electoral transformations on the basis of broad political consensus, the involvement of civil society and international standards, in particular the proposals of the Venice Commission and the OSCE/ODIHR.
The chairman of the commission noted that regardless of the internal political developments taking place in Armenia, in matters of security and foreign policy, even the political forces located at different poles will try to do everything possible to meet Armenia's state interests.
