ArmInfo. The Armenian government has set itself the task of raising pensions and wages. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this to journalists on July 20. This, according to the Prime Minister, the Cabinet of Ministers hopes to achieve, including, following the results of the anti-corruption struggle.
According to the Prime Minister, the main purpose of the latest exposures, the identification of corrupt officials and those who illegally enriched themselves, is neither to fill the prisons, but to return the money looted from their own people to the budget.
In addition, having established equal competitive conditions for doing business, as the prime minister noted, Armenia will stimulate local business and as a result will be able to collect more revenues into the budget. At the same time, the state budget expenditures on defense and allocations for pensions and wages of citizens will increase. The funds, he stressed, are generated in the daily mode - over 20 billion drams ($ 42 million) have been revealed only within the last 1.5 months within the framework of the comprehensive fight against corruption and shadow economy. At the same time, in the context of lowering the threshold for the mandatory funded pension system for citizens in Armenia, from July 1, 2017, the wages of 207,000 employees increased by about 5,000 drams. "Thus, we will be able to increase the social budget items without attracting new foreign borrowings, which is extremely important," concluded Nikol Pashinyan.
