ArmInfo. President of Armenian Parliament Ara Babloyan received and member of German Bundestag, Deputy Chairman of parliamentary friendship group Germany-South Caucasus, Chairman of German-Armenian forum Albert Weiler.
As press service of Parliament informed, Babloyan highly appreciated his efforts and consistent work both for enriching bilateral relations agenda and for international recognition of Armenian Genocide and conduct of pro-Armenian activities. The Head of legislative body expressed assurance that Armenian- German cooperation will develop and expand in future.
Referring to events in Armenia, President of Parliament noted that National Assembly of Armenia assists all those processes, which are necessary for statehood building and development of society. ''Armenia in terms of development of democracy differs from a number countries in the region'', Babloyan mentioned and expressed concern related to accumulation of Azerbaijani armed forces on Karabakh- Azerbaijani Line of contact and Nakhijevan district of border with Armenia. According to President of Parliament if Azerbaijani side launches aggressive actions, it will put an end democracy both in Armenia an in entire region creating the most serious threats to further stable development. Babloyan confirmed that Nagorno-Karabakh conflict should be settled exclusively within OSCE Minsk Group Co-chairmanship.
In his turn Weiler stressed the importance of further development and deepening of Armenian-German ties in a number of sectors in this issue especially highlighting the role mutual visits on various levels. The MP welcomed the fact of peaceful settlement of recent developments in Armenia, which in his words were positively assessed on international platform. Touching upon reforms of electoral legislation of Armenia Weiler expressed readiness to assist this process and exchange experience, which was accepted with satisfaction by the President of National Assembly. According to German MP reforms of the Electoral Code should be carried out without hurry and be sustainable in the future. In this context Babloyan mentioned that our country needs constructive reforms.
During the meeting other issues were also discussed related to deepening of Armenian-German relations.
