ArmInfo. Minister of Emergency Situations of Armenia Hrachya Rostomyan received the US Ambassador to Armenia Richard Mills on July 11, the press service of the ministry informs.
According to the source, Rostomyan noted that he hopes that all agreements on cooperation between the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Armenia and the US Embassy will be continuous. "We also realize the importance of developing new cooperation programs in the field of emergency situations, especially in the field of seismic safety," the Minister said.
In turn, Mills noted that the US Embassy has closely cooperated with the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Armenia for quite a long time. "We are ready to continue cooperation, and we hope that you will be able to find new ways of working together," Mills said. Concerning the prospects of seismic cooperation, the Ambassador said that the American side can provide expert support.
During the meeting, the parties discussed a number of joint programs, in particular, fire stations, fire fighting capabilities, firefighting and joint exercises. In this context, Minister of Emergency Situations Hrachya Rostomyan stressed that he instructed to study the technical condition of fire stations in the country and bring them in line with the basic standards. He also noted that this year because of the high- temperature the number of fires has increased, and in this connection the Ministry of Emergency Situations is working to prevent fires, also by informing inhabitants.
