ArmInfo.Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashchinyan will pay a working visit to the Kingdom of Belgium on July 11-13.
As the press service of the Armenian government reports, within the framework of the visit Nikol Pashinyan is to meet with the heads of the EU structures. Bilateral contacts with the leaders of states and governments are also expected.
During the Brussels visit, Nikol Pashinyan will participate in the meeting of the mission in Afghanistan "Strong Assistance" in the format of the heads of state and government of NATO member countries and non-members of the alliance, which will be held within the framework of the summit of the North Atlantic alliance. At the meeting, the Armenian Prime Minister will give a speech. Also, the Prime Minister will meet with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg. Prime Minister Pashinyan's speech at the Carnegie Foundation is planned for broad expert circles. During the visit, the Prime Minister will meet with representatives of the Armenian community of Belgium.
The NATO mission, called Resolute Support, began operating in Afghanistan on January 1, 2015, after the military stage of the US operation and its alliance allies has been completed. Armenia has been participating in the international security forces in Afghanistan since 2010. Currently, Armenian peacekeepers, consisting of 131 people, are carrying out the defense of the checkpoint of the Mike-Spann military base and the adjacent territory. All costs for the training and technical support of the contingent of Armenia's peacekeeping forces in Afghanistan were assumed by Germany.
