ArmInfo.Second Armenian President Robert Kocharyan is ready to testify on the case of March 1, 2008 events. This was stated on July 9 in the interview with journalists by the head of the office of the second president Victor Soghomonyan.
According to Soghomonyan, Kocharyan received a summons from the CAS for testifying as a witness in the case of March 1, 2008. The head of the office of the second president noted that in a return letter to the CAS he said that Robert Kocharian will return to Armenia not earlier than July 25, 2018. After returning to Armenia, the second president is ready to give testimony to the questions sent to him by the CAS investigator. He also called ridiculous accusations of the investigation against former defense minister Mikael Harutyunyan about an attempt to overthrow the constitutional order. "That is, according to the investigation, in 2008 the constitutional order was established and provided by the opposition, and the Minister of Defense with his actions tried to overthrow him. Otherwise, such accusations can not be called ridiculous or absurd, "said Kocharyan's office head." As for Kocharyan's actions during the events of March 1, 2008, Soghomonyan stressed that they fully proceeded from the norms of the Basic Law of 2005. "It's another matter that now deliberately selectively cited provisions of the 2005 Constitution. Obvious facts are ignored, "Soghomonyan assured, while stressing that the full and objective disclosure of any case that is somehow connected with Kocharyan's name is based on his own interests." I am sure that with full and objective disclosure of the facts not only in this case , but also to any other - be it an act of terrorism in the Armenian parliament on October 27, 1999, or rumors about Kocharyan's fabulous wealth, the Armenian society will be surprised to find that the second president has nothing to do with all this, "Soghomonyan assured, refuting ears about the fabulous wealth of Kocharyan.
