Yuri Djorkaeff, an Armenian by the maternal line, has repeatedly noted that he is tied to Armenian history and culture. He is world champion-1998, European champion-2000 and winner of the Confederations Cup- 2001 in the French national team. At the club level, he won the Cup Winners' Cup-1996 with the French "Paris Saint-Germain" and the UEFA Cup-1998 with the Italian "Inter". He finished his football career in 2006 in the American team "New York Red Bulls" and from the same time he lives in the US.
