


ArmInfo.In Armenia, those convicted for committing serious crimes and life-long convicts will have more time to meet their relatives and friends. The draft amendments to the RA Criminal Procedure Code were approved at a government meeting on July 4.
The Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia Artak Zeynalyan, who presented the draft amendments, stressed that at present three short-term and one long-term meeting are allowed for this category of persons. Now it is proposed to double these terms - 6 and 2 times, respectively. The document will be sent to the parliament of the country in the established order for consideration at an extraordinary meeting of the RA National Assembly on July 11. After its adoption, the document will come into force on the 10th day after publication. This measure, the minister continued, is in line with the European Convention on Human Rights.
RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan pointed to the difficult conditions created for meeting convicts with their relatives and friends. He called on the minister to address this problem, which also directly concerns the protection of human rights.
