ArmInfo. As a result of the operational-search activities carried out by the National Security Service of Armenia, data were received that weapons and ammunition are illegally stored in the territories belonging to ex-deputy Arakel Movsisyan. According to the press service of the National Security Service, in connection with the activation of law enforcement agencies against crime, Movsisyan relocated them to another place with the help of proxies to conceal weapons and ammunition.
Based on the data obtained as a result of the operational-search activities, a criminal case was initiated on the grounds of part 2 of Article 235 (Illegal acquisition, sale, storage, transportation or carrying of weapons, ammunition, explosives or explosive devices, preliminary collusion) of the Criminal Code of Armenia. Within the framework of the above criminal case, on 21 June, a search was carried out at Movsisyan's home, as well as possible places of storage and transportation of ammunition weapons. Arakel Movsisyan was taken to the Investigative Department of the National Security Service on June 21, where he was provided with irrefutable information about involvement in the illicit arms trade. The grounds for exemption from liability established by law for the voluntary surrender of weapons were also explained. After that, as a result of explanatory work, the latter expressed readiness to hand over weapons and ammunition illegally acquired during the Artsakh liberation struggle.
On the same day, at approximately 23:00, Movsisyan from two caches, located in the unoccupied areas of Aygek village, extracted and voluntarily handed over weapons and ammunition, in particular, two AKM automatic weapons, one of which with a grenade launcher, a RPK machine gun ", a gun brand" Belka ", three hunting rifles, 162 bullets of different caliber. "On the basis of the delivery of weapons and ammunition, Arakel Movsisyan was released, preliminary investigation is under way, appropriate expertise is being made, measures are being taken to check the weapons found for use in crimes," the ministry said. The SNB again reminds that according to the RA Criminal Code, persons who voluntarily surrender weapons and ammunition are exempted from liability if their actions do not contain any other corpus delicti. The National Security Service confirms that the fight against illegal weapons will be consistent and calls for its surrender to law enforcement agencies.
