ArmInfo.Discussions should be held for ensuring efficiency of work on reforming the Electoral Code of Armenia, with the participation of parliamentary and extra-parliamentary forces, MP from the Tsarukyan faction Sergey Bagratyan s stated in a conversation with journalists on June 22.
According to the MP, after these discussions, received proposals and ideas should be analyzed. "We believe that we should completely abandon the rating system of elections," Bagratyan said, adding that during the previous parliamentary elections, when the rating system was used, t violations such as bribes, pressure on election participants, etc. were registered. According to Bagratyan, if this system is canceled such violations will be minimized.
In addition, Bagratyan is confident that during the upcoming elections a repeat voting can be avoided, but this will be possible only after the introduction of the new Electoral Code. ''This will be possible by implementing a common fingerprint register. Unfortunately, currently time presses. Perhaps, we will not be able to introduce this system before the early parliamentary elections. However, there is another option, for example, using ink to take fingerprints from voters, which will avoid repeated voting, "the MP said, adding that this method is also used in neighboring Georgia.
Another proposal of the "Tsarukyan Bloc" faction is at the stage of discussions, and concerns the lists of active and passive voters. Thus, lists of those people who are in Armenia are considered active, and citizens living abroad who have the right to vote are considered passive. By combining this list, it will be possible to exclude the possibility of voting of one person instead of another who is not in the country. Bagratyan also said that representatives of the bloc have numerous technical proposals. "The goal of these changes is to ensure fair and transparent elections," the MP said, adding that most likely the early parliamentary elections will be held in March-April next year.
