ArmInfo. Armenian Justice Minister Artak Zeynalyan paid a working visit to France between June 18 and 20. In the framework of the visit Zeynalyan met with Deputy Secretary General of Council of Europe Gabriella Battaini- Dragoni.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Justice, Zeynalyan noted that the Armenian government highly appreciates efficient cooperation with the Council of Europe in the field of justice, human rights protection, fighting corruption, reform of penitentiary institutions and stressed that the government is committed to continuing to fulfill its obligations to the Council of Europe.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the EU-Armenia Cooperation Program for 2015-2018, which is now at the final stage and priorities of the 2019-2022 cooperation program.
Artak Zeynalyan also stressed the need for holding early parliamentary elections as soon as possible, noting that the Electoral Code of Armenia should be reformed before that.
The Minister of Justice also held a meeting with the Chairman of the European Court of Human Rights Guido Raimondi. During the meeting, both sides stressed that the achievements of active cooperation with the relevant structure of the Council of Europe are obvious.
Artak Zeynalyan held a number of official meetings during the visit.
