ArmInfo. Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan received a delegation of the French National Assembly headed by the leader of the France-Armenia friendship group Jacques Marilossian.
As the press service of the Armenian Foreign Ministry told ArmInfo, Mnatsakanyan noted with satisfaction that the visits of the French parliamentarians to Armenia are of a periodic nature and in this context stressed the importance of effective cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries.
The French parliamentarians assured that they will spare no effort to further strengthen the friendly relations between Armenia and France.
The parties discussed the issues of the agenda of the Armenian-French exclusive relations, and mutually stated that the relations between the two countries are dynamically developing. The interlocutors touched upon joint steps to further intensify bilateral trade and economic relations, stressing the importance of more effective use of the existing potential.
The sides touched upon the opportunities provided by the Armenia-EU comprehensive and expanded partnership agreement, both for bilateral and multilateral cooperation.
On the agenda of the meeting were also issues of decentralized cooperation, expansion of contacts in the scientific, educational and cultural spheres. The sides also focused on the forthcoming summit of Francophonie in Yerevan and preparations for it.
Mnatsakanyan highly appreciated the efforts of France, as co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group, along with other countries mediating between Russia and the US towards a peaceful resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. In this context, the importance of creating an atmosphere aimed at peace was emphasized.
The French parliamentarians stressed the necessity of observing the ceasefire regime, and expressed their support for exclusively peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
