ArmInfo. Vahram Shahinyan, the head of the Special Investigation Service (SIS) of Armenia, Lieutenant-General of Justice, resigned.
In his statement, in particular, it is said that during the last 5 years the SIS has proved its commitment to the anti-corruption strategy, "consistently fixing new achievements in this area." According to him, today, as before, he can declare that few law enforcement bodies can boast of effective struggle against corruption phenomena in the system. "I am sure that it was this principled and productive style of work that led to the growth of the role of the SIS, in the law enforcement system, as a professional and uncorrupted structure," he said.
According to him, he tried to do everything possible to ensure that employees of the SIS were loyal to their cause, literate and honest. Nevertheless, "due to the circumstances, Shahinyan considers it inexpedient to continue the service." "I sincerely and confidently declare that I leave behind an impartial, incorruptible, solidary and dedicated professional team to the state, which I am sure will continue to serve our state and people efficiently and dignifiedly," he said.
To note, Vahram Shahinyan was appointed head of the Special Investigation Service of Armenia on May 3, 2013 by the decree of ex-President Serzh Sargsyan.
