ArmInfo.Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan made a statement in connection with events in Artsakh.
"For several days now there have been rallies in Artsakh in connection with the fight that took place a few days ago." Of course, there is no doubt that the behavior of representatives of security agencies is a cause for concern and even cause condemnation. "In general, attempts to resolve internal issues by violence, from which side it is applied, and this situation, of course, should receive a concrete outcome, lead to concrete conclusions," Pashinyan said during a live broadcast on Facebook.
He also stressed that he closely follows the situation in Artsakh, is in constant contact with NKR President Bako Sahakyan, and positively assessed the fact that the latter had already met several protesters several times, listened to their demands and reached concrete agreements in connection with the voiced questions. He reminded that Sahakyan promised to conduct a full and fair investigation of the incident, that is, there is a mutual understanding between the President of Artsakh and the participants of the action regarding the vector and logic of further development. "Now, I believe, the time has come when the respected demonstrators should give Sahakyan the opportunity to fulfill the agreements." Obviously, it is clear that these agreements should be implemented in a calm atmosphere," Pashinyan said. However, he believes that the continuation of this situation hinders the further development of processes.
In the opinion of the Prime Minister of Armenia, now it will be more correct if the demonstrators give the Artsakh authorities the opportunity to implement the agreements reached, and if they are not realized in the next days, the relevant conclusions will not be drawn, and only then further protest actions will be substantiated. "In fact, today's Artsakh authorities also say that it is necessary to draw appropriate conclusions in connection with this situation, and it seems there are agreements between the protesters and the authorities regarding the consequences." My knowledge of the processes in Artsakh allows me to appeal to the demonstrators to stop rallies and give an opportunity to fulfill the agreement," he said.
At the same time he added that Sahakyan expressed his commitment to the implementation of the agreements reached, therefore, the rallies reached their goal, and the ball is now "halfway up the field" of Artsakh authorities, and if they do not solve the tasks, the demonstrators will be able to return the ball to their half of the field. He also believes that in the current situation everything is being done to resolve the incident through mutual consent, not conflict, and once again demonstrate the ability to resolve issues peacefully.
Protests continue in Stepanakert demanding the resignation of the heads of law enforcement agencies.
Participants and organizers of the action were not satisfied with the meeting with Artsakh President Bako Sahakyan, who said that in the near future the issue will be resolved in an institutional way, that is, structural reforms will take place in the sphere of power structures, regardless of the personality of their leaders. After the meeting with Sahakyan it was decided to continue the protest actions.
On June 1 in Stepanakert there was a fight between two citizens of Artsakh and several employees of the National Security Service. The participants of the fight were subjected to a drive. After that, protests began in Stepanakert demanding the resignation of the heads of the republic's law enforcement agencies.
The President of Artsakh noted at today's meeting that the sad incident that occurred in Stepanakert on the evening of June 1 was condemned by the state, regarded as unacceptable and received a legal assessment. "The investigation will be unconditionally carried out in strict accordance with the letter and spirit of the law and, if possible, publicly, and the society will be periodically notified of its progress." All the guilty will be held accountable in accordance with the procedure provided by law, "Bako Sahakyan said in his speech. The head of state stressed that such incidents, as well as their politicization and various speculations, which are fraught with the danger of division in society, are unacceptable in our country.
"In this context, I would like to especially appeal to our people, relying on his wisdom, the ability to quickly navigate in difficult situations, show sobriety, a balanced approach, a caring and responsive attitude to the most important issues and make the right decisions." Internal stability, unity and solidarity , the persistence of the stability of state foundations, the consistent improvement of the country's security and defense capability, the provision of peaceful conditions for the life and work of our citizens, the solution of the most important socio- economic issues in order to improve the living conditions of the people are exceptional value for us", Sahakyan said. The President noted that the authorities, government bodies are obliged to show the highest degree of responsibility in solving existing problems, conducting principled, consistent and painstaking work in this direction.
