ArmInfo. The State Control Service will play an important role in achieving the declared political goal of eradicating corruption in Armenia, Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan said on May 29, presenting the new head of the department.
As the press service of the Armenian government informs, Nikol Pashinyan noted that the State Service is sufficiently empowered by law, and expressed hope that David Sanasaryan's activity will be fruitful. "The main task of the Service is to control the effectiveness of spending public funds, the process of implementation of decisions and instructions of the Prime Minister, including in the anti-corruption sphere," he said, expressing confidence that the Service will play an important role in eradicating corruption in Armenia. As the head of government stressed, for achieving quick results, it is necessary, first of all, to make the right decisions, and then to implement them.
Nikol Pashinyan recalled the need to increase state revenues and stressed that tangible and visible changes are needed in Armenia. As the prime minister noted, David Sanasaryan was one of the leaders of the "velvet revolution" in Armenia. "I think that the revolutionary spirit should be manifested in the sphere of state control," he said, wishing good luck to Sansaryan.
David Sanasaryan, in turn, thanked the Prime Minister for the high confidence and honor to participate in the improvement of the state foundations. "The service in accordance with the Constitution and laws will carry out serious activities, and I assure that only the state will benefit from this. The main mission of the newly created Service should be to monitor the implementation of the decisions of the government, the prime minister, the effective use of public funds, the identification of corruption manifestations, which is very important. Our citizens expect this, David Sanasaryan stated.
As the head of the Armenian government pointed out, all those who try to keep Armenia and its people in a swamp of corruption, connivance and illegality, expect a devastating counterattack. The service should provide the appropriate atmosphere. But on the other hand, I do not want us to go to the other extreme and create an atmosphere of so-called "terror". I regret that I have to say this, because some people try to interpret our logic of love and tolerance, our positivism and our broad smile as a weakness. I think it's funny. We must clearly articulate our goals and implement them quickly and efficiently, without haste and thoughtless steps," the prime minister said.
